Custom Orders

Designs by Dorian cake tops are in stock or can be made as-is (see  item pages) unless otherwise specified, but can also be custom made for each wedding or other occasion. The easiest way to place a custom order is by e-mail (do not send credit card numbers) or phone. I will need the name or style of the design you are interested in, your color scheme, the date of your wedding, and your contact information. We can work out the details from there. For color matching to your wedding colors, you may send me swatches of ribbon or fabric, if you like, and I'll match them as closely as possible. Note that computer monitors may display colors inaccurately.

Any design in stock can be picked up or shipped immediately upon receipt of payment. If you prefer custom work, I will begin as soon as I receive a 25% deposit, and ship as soon as I am finished (within the time we agree upon). You may also order or bid on one from eBay.

Most cake tops take between 2-5 hours to hand-craft, so I prefer at least six to eight weeks notice before your wedding, for custom work, so you will receive photos two weeks before the wedding date for your review, in case any modifications are desired. If review is not needed, four to eight weeks notice is usually enough. If you need your design sooner, I am willing to provide rush service if I possibly can; a $35 rush charge and upgraded shipping charge may apply for orders needing shipment within four weeks, and a $45 charge for those needing shipment within two weeks.

Photos of all custom work (styles or colors not recreated from designs shown online) are posted for review before shipping.

 I accept Money Orders, Cashiers checks, Personal checks (10 day waiting period for check to clear, although I will start custom designs before that), PayPal, and MasterCard, Visa and Discover. All internet orders are transmitted via secure server.

Pricing is based upon the quality and cost of components, and the hours required to craft each design to perfection in beauty and balance, to assure it's lasting value.

© Keep away from children under 5 years of age. I use only safe, non-toxic materials in my designs, but some of the decorations are small and could be picked and swallowed by an inquisitive young one, which may cause choking.

©  Keep away from flame and extreme heat. Parts of the designs are flammable.

Care:

Dorian’s Designs are made to last. With a little care, you can ensure enjoyment of your design for many long years.    

© Handle design carefully by its base only.

©  Keep out of direct sunlight. Colors will  eventually fade in direct sunlight.

©  Do not allow air fern to become wet. Wet air fern can stain other nearby design elements.

©   If tulle should become ruffled, lightly spray with water (avoiding air fern) and smooth by hand.

© For maximum longevity, store in an enclosed glass dome or curio cabinet.

If purchased directly from me and unused, your Designs by Dorian cake top may be returned to us at your cost on a case-by-case basis for a refund minus shipping costs and a 25% restocking fee within five (5) working days of receipt, unless other arrangements have been made. It must be returned in its original packing materials and in good unused condition. No refunds will be issued for any reason after the cake top has been used.

If a refund is requested prior to work being started on a Designs by Dorian cake top, and if no components have been special ordered for it, a full refund will be issued. Components are usually ordered within a few weeks of the order being placed (or immediately for rush orders), but may be ordered at any time. Once we have ordered any special components, a partial refund may be issued depending on the nature and cost of these components, on a case-by-case basis.

I triple-box my delicate designs, and double box all others, so it is unlikely that they would sustain damage in shipping; However, if you discover damage to your cake top upon receiving it, please save all packing materials and contact me within ten days of receipt for instructions on how to claim insurance from the carrier: This insurance should cover either repairing or replacing the cake top if possible and if desired.

Should a design out of warranty become damaged, I will repair it for a nominal fee if possible.

Designs purchased from a retailer are sold under the retailers return policy, although I reserve the right to repair a damaged top upon request, and to waive repair charges at my discretion.

Domestic orders will ship FedEx to anywhere in the US (2-5 days to delivery). Custom orders will be finished with photos posted online for review, usually within 4-6 weeks of order, and will be shipped within a few days of your approval. Orders in stock will be shipped within a few days of order. An $18 shipping & packaging charge will be added at checkout.

Rush orders will be shipped insured USPS Priority ($22 additional) or Overnight at cost if needed (see the USPS website for an estimate: each design weighs 3 or 4 four pounds). Cake tops not in stock and needing shipment in less than four weeks from the date of order may be subject to a $35 rush charge, and $45 if shipment is needed in less than two weeks.

Delicate designs are triple-boxed to ensure that they arrive in perfect condition.
